Rally academy student goes to M-Sport

Alex Cannon

Alex Cannon is the first student to have come through the Essex junior rally academy. Alex has spent 1 year at the academy where he has been taught how to drive and how to prepare his own rally car. Some of the work he has encountered over the last year includes fitting new floors into his rally car. Fitting his roll cage. All the rally preparation work on his car has been carried out by himself. He has learned the following skills welding, sheet metal folding and bending. He has stripped and rebuilt his own engine carried out modifications to his suspension and brakes .He has also learned about vehicle electrics wiring up his own rev counter gear shift lights and master switch.

Alex joined Delado motor club where he has competed in his Mk 2 escort having won the junior class out right he is now setting times which are up with the top runners in the club. On June the 23 rd Alex goes to M-Sport for a week where he will shadow one of the M-Sport engineers. This will give him an insight as to what goes on at a world championship team. Alex is currently studying for his A levels and hopes to go on to work with a world championship rally team
